Quick answers to the questions Anchorage homeowners ask most.
A properly installed stucco system commonly lasts decades. Lifespan depends most on the base and lath, the number and cure of the coats, and how well cracks and moisture are kept in check over time.
Fine hairline cracks are common as a building settles and materials expand and contract. They're usually cosmetic, but they let water in, so sealing them matters. Wider or recurring cracks can point to settlement or a moisture issue worth looking at before re-coating.
Yes — texture matching (float, sand, dash) and color blending are a core part of any repair. A patch is built to the same thickness and finished to blend with the surrounding wall; a fog coat can even out color across the whole elevation.
If the existing stucco is sound but faded, crazed, or dated, a fresh finish or fog coat (re-stucco) renews it without a tear-off. If the base, lath, or barrier behind the stucco has failed, replacement of that section is the better long-term fix. An estimate will tell you which.
Cost depends on the scope — a crack seal and a full re-stucco are very different jobs — plus wall area, access, texture, and how much prep or repair the wall needs. The quickest way to a real number is a free estimate.
Each coat needs time to set, and cement stucco continues to cure over several days, helped by keeping it damp in dry weather. Cure time varies with temperature and humidity; we'll give you the timeline for your project and the Alaska conditions.
